EXT BOTHAM CARUZ SPACEPORT - DAY
Selba Gauntil, flanked by Kin and Keth, exits her heavily armored shuttle.
Amon Rama exits his shuttle at the same time. He is surrounded by his guards, including the CAPTAIN ROMA (burned by Vader's energy blade). Amon Rama narrows his eyes as he sees Selba Gauntil.
AMON RAMA
Lady Gauntil. What a pleasure.
SELBA GAUNTIL
Chancellor.
AMON RAMA
You can't save him, you know. There would be a war.
SELBA GAUNTIL
And you would be dead before the rest of your fleet gets here.
AMON RAMA
How dare you.
SELBA GAUNTIL
Have a pleasant day, Chancellor.
CUT TO:
EXT BOTHAM CARUZ - MAIN STREET - DAY
The main street leads up to the CAPITAL BUILDING. Thronging crowds flood the street, shouting and mocking.
Selba Gauntil looks over the crowd. A splendid cape hangs over one shoulder. A deep voice from behind brings a small smile.
GRUMBLE (O.S.)
It is good to have you with us, Selba.
SELBA GAUNTIL
I cannot let innocent men die.
GRUMBLE
So it wasn't my charm that brought you?
Selba turns to Grumble. They hold up their three-fingered hands and place them palm to palm (a great expression of Vendag love).
SELBA GAUNTIL
I had to tell something to my army.
EXT BOTHAM CARUZ - MAIN STREET - CONTINUING
In an alleyway, Nigus Ele'agar checks his weapons one last time. He pulls the dark hood over his head and enters the shouting crowd.
EXT BOTHAM CARUZ SPACEPORT - CONTINUING
Shonna and Elbani walk slowly toward Vader's ship - The RECLUSE. Shonna stops for a moment and turns back to the sound of shouting. It strengthens in intensity.
SHONNA MURRIN
They've brought them out.
CUT TO:
EXT BOTHAM CARUZ - MAIN STREET - CONTINUING
The crowds roar in anticipation as Vader and Jedi enter the main street. Rotten fruits and vegetables arc through the air toward the two prisoners.
Baron Veitch Salma walks behind them to ensure their safe passage to the Capital Building.
Jin Bolemar runs up behind Baron Salma and stops him.
JIN BOLEMAR
Baron Salma, my master, Fez Andae requests that you join him.
BARON VEITCH SALMA
I cannot.
JIN BOLEMAR
It is not safe for you. Look at the crowd.
Indeed, the crowd grows more and more violent.
Baron Salma follows Jin Bolemar away from Vader and Jedi. Now only a handful of armored guards stand between the prisoners and the angry crowd.
Jedi looks nervously at the maddening crowd. Vader stares straight ahead, never once deviating from his destined path.
JEDI KIZEDEK
They're growing restless.
VADER KESKAR
I know.
EXT BOTHAM CARUZ - MAIN STREET - BALCONY - CONTINUING
Baron Salma, Jin Bolemar, and Fez Andae watch from the balcony.
FEZ ANDAE
The crowd seems eager for blood.
A deep, ominous voice from behind chills all of them.
GRUMBLE (O.S.)
They certainly do.
Grumble and Selba Gauntil step out onto the balcony.
SELBA GAUNTIL
You swore to protect them.
BARON VEITCH SALMA
I ... I ... he made me leave.
Despite Fez Andae's great size, Grumble easily picks him up by his neck.
Fez gags and struggles for breath.
GRUMBLE
How shall you fare in the frenzy?
Grumble tosses Fez over the edge of the balcony. He hangs for a moment in midair, then gets swallowed up by the mob.
Grumble turns to Jin Bolemar.
GRUMBLE
You were the traitor.
JIN BOLEMAR
No. It wasn't my idea. Please. I don't want to die.
SELBA GAUNTIL
You will die a coward.
Baron Salma tries to slip back into the building to escape. Selba grabs him from behind, pulling him off his feet.
SELBA GAUNTIL
You. You will order your men to bring Vader Keskar back.
BARON VEITCH SALMA
I can't do that. They belong to the Chancellor now.
CUT TO:
EXT BOTHAM CARUZ - CAPITAL BUILDING - STEPS - CONTINUING
Amon Rama stands atop the steps awaiting the arrival of the prisoners. He watches their approach with some measure of gratified amusement.
A lone figure, clad entirely in black, leaps from the crowd and ignites an energy blade.
Nigus Ele'agar cuts down all the guards. The crowd roars in approval. They just want to see blood.
CUT TO:
EXT BOTHAM CARUZ SPACEPORT - CONTINUING
Shonna and Elbani enter THE RECLUSE. The entrance ramp closes. The engines fire.
Inside, Shonna buries her face in her hands. The tears flow freely.
Through vision blurred by tears, Elbani pilots the ship up and away from the planet.
CUT TO:
EXT BOTHAM CARUZ - MAIN STREET - CONTINUING
Confusion creases Vader's brow as Nigus cuts down the guards. Jedi grabs Nigus before he can do any more damage.
JEDI KIZEDEK
You fool! Now we are all dead men!
The Republic Soldiers push their way forward out of the crowd and level their guns at Vader and his two companions.
Captain Roma races forward to stop them from firing.
Vader steps in front of Jedi and Nigus.
VADER KESKAR
You have me. Let them-
A blast fires out from behind Vader, hitting him square in the back. He stumbles forward. The soldiers mistake this for an attack and open fire.
Vader's body falls to the ground, scorched with blast wounds.
CUT TO:
INT WHITE ROOM (VISION) - CONTINUING
Vader Keskar stands alone in a bare white room. He looks around, searching for something, anything, to define where he is. He feels his body for wounds. Nothing.
Out of a bright light, Shonna appears, clothed in a white robe.
VADER KESKAR
Shonna? Where is this place? Am I-?
SHONNA MURRIN
Yes.
VADER KESKAR
I thought it would hurt more. Are you ...?
SHONNA MURRIN
No. I'm only in your mind. I will guide you. Come.
VADER KESKAR
I want to see my body.
SHONNA MURRIN
No. It would only make passing more painful.
Shonna reaches out to Vader. He takes her hand. As their hands touch, a bright light forms, getting brighter until it envelops them completely.
CUT TO:
EXT CORUSCANT - CAPITAL CITY - STREETS - DAY
Crowds throng the streets. A somber silence falls as Vader's body passes by on its way to the Guardian's Temple. The procession stretches for miles. All air traffic is rerouted in honor of Vader.
INT GUARDIAN'S TEMPLE - UPPER ROOM - DAY
Grumble pulls aside a large potted plant. A holocron glistens in the daylight. Grumble picks it up.
INT GUARDIAN'S TEMPLE - UPPER ROOM - NIGHT
The holocron sits in the center of the floor. Grumble, Selba Gauntil, Ji'Kala Anobi, Nigus Ele'agar, Adrum Keskar, and the few remaining members of the previous Council of Elder Guardians sit in the seats. Jedi Kizedek reaches out and turns the holocron on.
A new recording plays. The image of Vader Keskar appears.
VADER KESKAR
If you are watching this image, I have already passed on into the force. There is much to learn of the force. I can no longer teach you, so you must teach each other. The old ways have passed away. We must look toward the future with hope and with confidence.
The image pauses, looking around the room. The image of Vader doesn't make eye contact, but the feeling is that Vader is looking into the soul of each person there.
VADER KESKAR
Safeguard the peace of this galaxy. Be as the knights of old. Do not forget what you have learned. It will save you.
Vader's image smiles slightly.
VADER KESKAR
And Jedi, you're probably still alive; don't even think of naming your order after me. You are a far better example of the force than I was. Call them after yourself. Knights after the order of Jedi.
Vader's image bows its head in farewell.
VADER KESKAR
May the force be with you all.
CUT TO:
EXT PILLARS OF PENDAGAAR - DAY
Shonna, Elbani, and a small boy - DAN'MIR - sit and watch the sun set behind the pillars.
ADRUM KESKAR (V.O.)
That was the last time I saw my brother. He died to bring the galaxy together. Even now, many disregard his death as trivial.
A glow appears behind Shonna. She turns and smiles. Vader Keskar, glowing luminescent blue, smiles in return.
ADRUM KESKAR (V.O.)
Shonna delivered one child - a boy. There are some that say Vader watches over them. I like to believe that.
CUT TO:
EXT GANTHROCIL V - TRAINING GROUNDS - DAY
Grumble and Selba Gauntil oversee "Jedi" trainees.
ADRUM KESKAR (V.O.)
Grumble and Selba Gauntil went back to Ganthrocil V and trained the next generation of Jedi Knights.
INT GUARDIAN'S TEMPLE - UPPER ROOM - DAY
Jedi sits in council with the eleven other members, including Adrum Keskar.
ADRUM KESKAR (V.O.)
Jedi Kizedek sits at the head of the Council. He guides with a wisdom far beyond his years.
INT GUARDIAN'S TEMPLE - LIBRARY - DAY
Adrum pulls a large book, THE JOURNAL OF THE WHILLS, from its resting place. He opens it and begins to write.
ADRUM KESKAR (V.O.)
And I, Adrum Keskar, was entrusted with the book of Vader's prophesies. Elbani called it THE JOURNAL OF THE WHILLS. I only hope that I may be counted worthy to record in such a book.
Adrum looks off into space and smiles briefly.
ADRUM KESKAR (V.O.)
And so I conclude my record at this time. Everything spoken by my brother will come to pass. I add my witness. A savior will come and bring balance. Until that time, may the force be with you all.
Adrum closes the book.
