EXT PLANET GANTHROCIL V - NIGHT
Jedi's ship orbits the planet. No other interstellar traffic comes here. This planet is very primitive.
INT JEDI'S SHIP - CONTINUING
Nigus toys with his dagger. He presses it into his fingertip, drawing a drop of blood.
Jedi sits with his eyes closed in the pilot's seat.
JEDI KIZEDEK
That is not necessary. I can feel your frustration.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
He needs us.
JEDI KIZEDEK
Not yet. Soon.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
I don't get it. Why do you get this, and I don't? I'm just as strong as you are in the force.
Jedi smiles and opens his eyes. He studies Nigus before answering.
JEDI KIZEDEK
Oh, you are? Yes, I suppose you are. It is experience, Nigus, that separates us. Not age, not the color of our skin, nor our home planets, only experience. I have studied for several years with Vader.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
Teach me.
JEDI KIZEDEK
What do you know of foresight?
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
You mean visions?
JEDI KIZEDEK
Foresight does not always come in visions. More often than not, it comes as a certainty that something will happen.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
Like a vision.
JEDI KIZEDEK
Similar, yes.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
What's the difference. I see visions, you hear voices.
JEDI KIZEDEK
They're not always voices, sometimes- ah, very good. Your insight serves you well.
Jedi picks up a book and holds it in front of Nigus.
JEDI KIZEDEK
Tell me what you see.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
It's a book.
JEDI KIZEDEK
What book?
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
There's writing. Sloppy writing. It's your writing. This is your history. I'm right, aren't I?
JEDI KIZEDEK
Yes. This is my history.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
But you're young. You're not going to die.
JEDI KIZEDEK
That is not your place to say.
Jedi closes his eyes once again, ending the conversation. Nigus closes his eyes, going into a trance-like meditation. He sees something, and his eyes snap open.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
You don't have to die.
Jedi sits up, startled. He turns to face Nigus.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
Refuse the Baron's offer. Then you won't have to die.
JEDI KIZEDEK
What Baron?
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
I don't know.
JEDI KIZEDEK
You have much to learn, Nigus.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
Teach me.
CUT TO:
INT HYDROPONICS FARM - GARAGE - DAWN
Grumble stoops under the hood of a battered speeder. Kin and Keth disappear around the corner. Selba stands nearby, watching Grumble sadly.
Vader attaches a cybernetic brace to Shonna's leg.
VADER KESKAR
That should do until you heal.
SHONNA MURRIN
We don't have a ship.
VADER KESKAR
The path will be opened.
Grumble rips a rusty part from the engine. He holds it up and glares at it.
GRUMBLE
(to Selba)
Do you have a spare one of these?
SELBA GAUNTIL
I cannot help you. I'm sorry.
GRUMBLE
Fine. I'll stop by the scrapyard. He owes me a favor.
Grumble slams the hood.
GRUMBLE
Take care of yourself, Selba. I'll come back one day.
Selba smiles sadly, understanding the deeper meaning.
SELBA GAUNTIL
You always do.
Selba steps forward, hoping almost beyond hope.
SELBA GAUNTIL
Grumble ...?
GRUMBLE
Yes?
SELBA GAUNTIL
Remember your promise? On Vendagaar? When ... when will you come back for me?
GRUMBLE
Soon.
INT HYDROPONICS FARM - SECURITY LOUNGE - CONTINUING
Kin and Keth break open the door. It falls off it's hinges. One SECURITY GUARD, TELLO BITHMARK, jumps to his feet. He pulls out his blaster and points it nervously at the two intruders.
TELLO BITHMARK
Stop! Hold it right there! Don't move! I'll shoot! I will!
Kin and Keth look at each other, then whip out huge blasters in each hand. Tello drops his blaster. His hands shoot up into the air in surrender.
Keth notices the holoscreen.
KETH
Hey, what's on?
Kin sits down at the table and helps himself to Tello's food.
KIN
Looks like the beastrodeo. Hey, there's that guy.
KETH
I wonder if he got cold up there like that?
TELLO BITHMARK
Are you going to kill me?
KIN
Are you going to eat this?
TELLO BITHMARK
Go ahead. Please.
KETH
Nah, we just wanted to scare you. The door was stuck.
TELLO BITHMARK
It was locked.
KIN
I told you we should've knocked.
On the holoscreen, Halron Budne appears. Behind him, pictures of Vader, Shonna, and Grumble appear.
HALRON BUDNE (O.S.)
These three are fugitives, and should be considered extremely dangerous.
KETH
Yeah, so your bottom doesn't get cold.
HALRON BUDNE (O.S.)
I am offering a reward of fifty thousand credits for these three.
KIN
That's a lot of money.
(realization hits)
Hey!
EXT HYDROPONICS FARM - GARAGE - CONTINUING
Grumble's speeder sputters, then roars to life. It speeds away from the garage. Shonna's long hair trails behind her in the wind.
Selba holds up a hand in farewell.
Kin and Keth race outside. Kin holds a half eaten drumstick in his hand.
KETH
They're gone. We could've been rich. This is all your fault.
KIN
Me? You were the one who blew up the cannon. Stupidhead.
Selba turns and enters the garage. She closes the door behind her, locking Kin and Keth outside. As the door slams, they stop their arguing and turn to face it.
KETH
We're outside.
KIN
That's why mom said you got the brains.
KETH
Hey, at least I know which end of a Boctrian Camelfinch to throw food to at the zoo.
KIN
Oh yeah? Well, at least I'm not ugly.
KETH
Oh yeah? Have you cracked any mirrors lately?
Kin shoves Keth. Keth shoves back. Keth blocks Kin's punch. The drumstick flies out of Kin's hand and falls in the dirt. They both stop to watch this last morsel of food crash to the ground.
A WeaselSparrow swoops down and snatches the drumstick, and flies back up to its roost.
Kin and Keth watch this unfold. Their jaws drop in stunned disbelief. They sit down on the ground against the garage door.
KETH
You think we'll ever see them again?
Kin holds up a leather billfold.
KIN
I got his wallet.
Kin rummages through the wallet. He pulls out some crumpled credits and a few pictures.
KIN
Let's see. Fifty three credits. Some coupons. A picture ... of Dileena. Hey, he's got a picture of Dileena, too. And a picture of you, Keth.
Keth snatches the wallet away from Kin.
KETH
That's MY wallet!
Then he takes the picture of Dileena.
KETH
And my picture.
KIN
Hey, where'd you get fifty three credits?

INT SANCTUARY OF PEACE - UPPER ROOM - MORNING
Fez throws open the door and confidently strides into the room. He is followed by half of the Council of Elders. His smile disappears when he discovers the room is empty.
A dark-clothed Elder, MORIAH LIKAANIS, sticks out his forked tongue and tests the air.
MORIAH LIKAANIS
He has not been here for hours.
FEZ ANDAE
This is treason!
LESSIDAUD, a thin rail of a man, strokes his wispy beard, and speaks. His raspy voice grates on Fez Andae's already frayed nerves.
LESSIDAUD
All Guardians are free to leave when they please.
FEZ ANDAE
He threw me across the room.
MORIAH LIKAANIS
When Master Wandle is found, we shall take up discussion, but not until then.
The remaining Council exits, leaving Fez alone in the chamber. He glares out the window.
FEZ ANDAE
Where are you, old man?
CUT TO:
EXT HYDROPONICS FARM - MORNING
Wandle Ly'Ui shuffles up to the door. He leans heavily on his gnarled cane.
The door opens before Wandle reaches it. Selba hurries out to help Wandle. She towers over the aged human, but he graciously accepts her help.
SELBA GAUNTIL
Master Ly'Ui.
Wandle leans heavily on Selba's arm.
SELBA GAUNTIL
I didn't think I'd ever see you again.
WANDLE LY'UI
It was the force that brought me back. Are your visitors still here?
CUT TO:
EXT CORUSCANT - CAPITAL CITY - DAY
The Guardian's Temple rises up, half completed. A single pinnacle rises up from a broad base. Construction crews busily haul new materials inside the building.
EXT CORUSCANT - CAPITAL CITY - GRAND AUDITORIUM - BALCONY - CONTINUING
King Ahbi'el and Amon Rama overlook the new Temple.
AMON RAMA
I told you there would be no more problems with them. Give the pacifists a little peace, and they let tyranny rule over them. Ignorance truly is bliss.
KING AHBI'EL
I have heard talk ...
AMON RAMA
There is always talk. You know that, Ahbi'el.
King Ahbi'el walks to the edge of the balcony. He leans heavily on the railing.
AMON RAMA
But it bothers you this time. What is this talk?
KING AHBI'EL
There is talk of a new leader. Among the Guardians. A warrior.
AMON RAMA
Bah. After that fool Ly'Ui left three years ago, there's been no one worth speaking of on the Council.
KING AHBI'EL
This one isn't on the Council.
AMON RAMA
Then we have nothing to worry about.
KING AHBI'EL
He has quite a following.
AMON RAMA
And this worries you, because ...?
KING AHBI'EL
He is a warrior.
AMON RAMA
We'll bribe him.
KING AHBI'EL
He's a warrior, Rama.
AMON RAMA
You can buy anything in the galaxy for money, especially warriors.
CUT TO:
EXT PLANET GANTHROCIL V - DAY
The planet appears calm and serene from the cold darkness of space.
EXT PILLARS OF PENDAGAAR - CONTINUING
The Pillars rise high above an otherwise featureless plain. Two spacecraft hunch down among the fallen Pillars.
Vader and Shonna hold hands, and face each other. Wandle Ly'Ui presides over this marriage.
Grumble, Jedi, and Nigus stand in as witnesses.
WANDLE LY'UI
... until you both become one with the force. Vader, you may kiss your bride.
Vader kisses Shonna. Grumble clears his throat and turns away. He wipes something away from his eye.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
Got something in your eye, Grumble?
GRUMBLE
Yes. A flying piece of silt. Excuse me.
Grumble moves away a few paces.
JEDI KIZEDEK
It is not usually our way to marry, Vader, but I wish the two of you all the galaxy has to offer.
VADER KESKAR
Thank you.
SHONNA MURRIN
You've been a good friend, Jedi.
Nigus shifts uncomfortably. His black clothing stands in stark contrast to the light colored rainment of his peers.
VADER KESKAR
Nigus, you've been a good student. You'll make a fine Guardian.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
What of you, Vader?
VADER KESKAR
I'm going to spend some time with my wife.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
When will you be back?
VADER KESKAR
If it is the will of the force, never.
JEDI KIZEDEK
That is a nice thought. But you know as well as I do ...
VADER KESKAR
I know.
Grumble steps forward and offers a small package.
SHONNA MURRIN
Grumble, you didn't have to.
GRUMBLE
In my clan, it is tradition. One warrior presents another with weapons.
Vader unwraps the small package. It appears to be the hilt of a sword. He wields it uncertainly.
VADER KESKAR
It's great. What is it?
Grumble takes the hilt and demonstrates its use. He flicks his wrist, and a retractable shaft extends from the hilt. It sparkles with tiny jewels.
GRUMBLE
On my world, only the very best warriors wield energy blades.
Grumble pushes a button. Energy crackles through every gem. A red glow surrounds the shaft. The blade hums with energy. Grumble swings it a few times, then shuts off the blade. The shaft retracts into the hilt.
VADER KESKAR
That's ... I don't know what to say.
GRUMBLE
You will be a good mate to Shonna. I need no more thanks.
Shonna embraces Grumble. His massive frame enfolds her. He sniffs, holding in unshown emotion.
SHONNA MURRIN
Thank you.
VADER KESKAR
What does this energy blade do?
Grumble points to a large rock sticking out of the ground.
GRUMBLE
Cut it.
Vader snaps on the blade and steps up to the rock. He looks at Shonna, and then Grumble. He slashes diagonally at the rock, slicing it cleanly in two. The top piece slides off and falls to the ground.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
Wow.
JEDI KIZEDEK
An elegant weapon, to be sure.
GRUMBLE
I can change the color of the stones, if you would prefer.
VADER KESKAR
No, red suits me fine.
He snaps the blade back to its storage phase. He clips it to his belt.
WANDLE LY'UI
May the living force be with you, Lord Keskar.
VADER KESKAR
Master Wandle, you have taught me much. I only hope I never have to use it.
WANDLE LY'UI
You cannot run from your destiny. You must lead the Guardians to the light of truth.
SHONNA MURRIN
We have our honeymoon first.
WANDLE LY'UI
This life is the time for us to prepare.
JEDI KIZEDEK
Master Wandle, let him go. He's got enough on his mind without your preaching.
WANDLE LY'UI
My life is over. I go to prepare a place for you on the Council.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
They'll kill you.
WANDLE LY'UI
That is not your place to say, young man. My life is my own. My destiny is mine, and mine alone.
NIGUS ELE'AGAR
Let me go with you. I'll protect you.
Wandle closes his eyes and sighs. He looks deeply into Nigus' soul.
WANDLE LY'UI
Nigus Ele'agar, the things you do will be remembered long after your name is forgotten. Do not attempt to guide my life. Your destiny is enough.
JEDI KIZEDEK
Vader. This isn't goodbye.
VADER KESKAR
I know. See you.
SHONNA MURRIN
Good bye.
Vader and Shonna enter his ship. They close the hatch and lift off. The ship streaks into the sky.
GRUMBLE
They will have powerful offspring.
WANDLE LY'UI
No. Only one.
CUT TO:
EXT DESOLATE PLAINS OF MEGHYDD'O (DREAM) - NIGHT
Vader finds himself alone on the plains. His ship is nowhere to be seen. He whirls, frantically searching for some sign of life. Behind him, Jedi appears.
JEDI KIZEDEK
You won't see them, Vader. Not until it is far too late.
VADER KESKAR
Jedi! Thank the gods.
JEDI KIZEDEK
The gods have very little to do with this, Vader. You know that.
VADER KESKAR
I am one man. I cannot change the destiny of a galaxy by myself.
JEDI KIZEDEK
You must.
VADER KESKAR
What of you? How do you fit into all of this?
JEDI KIZEDEK
I will be with you to the end. Your blood flows through my veins, and mine through yours. Our oath is still strong.
VADER KESKAR
Will Shonna die?
The plains disappear, and Vader finds himself in the middle of a broad thoroughfare, in a massive metropolis.
VADER KESKAR
This is the place.
JEDI KIZEDEK
Yes.
VADER KESKAR
It is time.
Vader turns to see an angry mob screaming at him. They level their blasters, taking aim. Vader steps forward, in front of Jedi.
VADER KESKAR
You have me. Let him go.
A shot rings out from behind Vader, striking him square in the back. He falls toward the ground, smoke rising from the hole in his back.
CUT TO:
INT THELB HOTEL - BEDROOM (REALITY) - NIGHT
Vader sits up in bed, sweat pouring from his face. Shonna awakens and puts a hand to his head.
SHONNA MURRIN
Are you all right?
Vader's eyes scan the room rapidly. His breathing is shallow and quick. He turns to look at Shonna, confusion written in his eyes.
Shonna takes him in her arms.
SHONNA MURRIN
It was only a dream. Only a dream.
CUT TO:
INT SANCTUARY OF PEACE - UPPER ROOM - DAY
The doors fly off their hinges. Everyone on the Council stands in shock. They turn to face this threat.
Master Wandel Ly'Ui shuffles into the room. His cane echoes loudly on the bare floor.
FEZ ANDAE
You are no longer welcome here.
WANDLE LY'UI
You are sitting in my seat.
LESSIDAUD
Master Wandle, we had feared you dead.
WANDLE LY'UI
The force wouldn't take me.
JI'KALA ANOBI
We have missed you.
Moriah Likaanis scratches his scaly skin absently.
MORIAH LIKAANIS
Yes. Like a festering disease.
WANDLE LY'UI
We have grown complacent in our safety. The time has come to change.
FEZ ANDAE
You no longer speak for the Council, I do. You see that Temple? That was MY doing. Everything you see around here is because of ME.
WANDLE LY'UI
You will be the first, Fez.
FEZ ANDAE
I AM the first! I hold the coveted seat! I speak for the force.
JI'KALA ANOBI
The force speaks for itself.
FEZ ANDAE
Those beings out there, they can't hear it. They depend on me. On ME. Not you, old man. Not you, woman. ME.
WANDLE LY'UI
Ji'Kala, take off your veil.
LESSIDAUD
It is not permitted for a woman to show her face in this chamber!
WANDLE LY'UI
Take off your veil.
Ji'Kala removes the veil from her face, revealing a mature, yet strikingly beautiful visage. She looks at Wandle and smiles. Her gaze shifts defiantly to the other members of the Council.
FEZ ANDAE
This is an outrage!
MASTER ZHAGGIE, the newest member of the Council. Stands and lifts his staff high into the air.
MASTER ZHAGGIE
In the sacred power of the Force, I command you to begone!
WANDLE LY'UI
HE is coming. Ji'Kala?
Ji'Kala takes Wandles outstretched arm, and they leave the chamber.
