EXT CANTINA - CONTINUING
Faulkerk pulls Danna along. He stops in an alley and backs her against the wall. He leans close and whispers, looking quickly around.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
You never saw me. You don't know my name. This never happened.
Faulkerk starts to walk away.
DANNA TIMRI
I can help you.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
No you can't.
DANNA TIMRI
I can. I know things.
Faulkerk turns around, exasperation evident on his face.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Listen, girl, I can take care of myself.
DANNA TIMRI
I have a name.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
I know.
DANNA TIMRI
I'm a jedi.
Faulkerk laughs.
DANNA TIMRI
I am. So was my father.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Go home.
The cantina door bursts open. Stormtroopers rush out, looking around.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Go home. Now.
Faulkerk disappears around a corner.
DANNA TIMRI
No.
Danna runs after him.
CUT TO:
INT TIMRI ESTATE - DANNA'S HOME - NIGHT
Aisha sits with Sharla and Bronti. They worriedly discuss Danna and her possible whereabouts.
SHARLA TIMRI
I told you not to let her go. She's just going to get into trouble.
AISHA TIMRI
I should have sent a camera after her.
BRONTI
Remember how you were at her age, Aisha. You fell for that Kenobi boy. He was handsome, though.
SHARLA TIMRI
Are you trying to help, Bronti?
Aisha turns to look at the far wall, trying to hide the hurt in her eyes.
AISHA TIMRI
That name means nothing to me.
SHARLA TIMRI
So send a camera out. Find Danna. She's trying to be a jedi. If the Empire finds out that your daughter is a jedi...
BRONTI
They'll kill us all.
SHARLA TIMRI
No, not all. Just the traitors.
CUT TO:
EXT PAIJ ZELVA'S HOVEL - NIGHT
A squad of Stormtroopers take up positions outside the door. One of them, CAPTAIN BIN TIMRI, pounds on the door.
CAPTAIN BIN TIMRI
Open up, traitor! You are charged with crimes against the Empire.
Captain Timri steps back from the door. His men prepare to blast open the door.
CAPTAIN BIN TIMRI
(continuing; to Stormtroopers)
She is our link to this rebellion. We have traced everything back to her. On my mark, fire.
Faulkerk rounds the corner and skids to a stop.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Hey!
Then he scrambles back behind the safety of the wall. The Stormtroopers turn to face this new opponent. Faulkerk reaches around the corner and fires at the Stormtroopers.
CUT TO:
INT TIMRI ESTATE - DANNA'S HOME - NIGHT
Aisha and Sharla face a hologram of an older man, JONNAH (60's).
AISHA TIMRI
I'm very worried about her, Jonnah. Can you send out a camera to find her?
JONNAH
I can spare you three cameras if you are that concerned, Aisha. But only for an hour. The Empire has me looking for those rebels that disabled their vehicles.
AISHA TIMRI
Thank you, Jonnah.
SHARLA TIMRI
That's it?
AISHA TIMRI
I've uploaded the partial biological scan. He'll find her.
Sharla reaches to the console and twists a dial.
SHARLA TIMRI
There's the full bio scan. Now she can't hide anymore.
Sharla looks at Aisha smugly.
CUT TO:
EXT JONNAH'S COMMUNICATIONS COMPOUND - NIGHT
Three small camera droids emerge from a portal in the side of the building. A scanner rises up from the top of the building. It beeps, signifying success, and the three cameras race away to find their target.
CUT TO:
EXT PAIJ ZELVA'S HOVEL - CONTINUING
Danna ducks into an alley as she sees blaster fire shattering the darkness. She peeks out. Two Stormtroopers approach their target from his blind side. Danna pulls her knife from in her belt and throws it at the first Stormtrooper. It hits him in the back, causing a small thud.
STORMTROOPER
What?
Faulkerk whirls and opens fire on the two Stormtroopers, neutralizing them instantly. He turns back to the rest of the squad. He picks them off one by one. Then he hits Captain Timri, knocking him down, but not killing him.
Faulkerk walks right up to Captain Timri and kicks his blaster out of reach.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
So, you bring a squad of your goons to capture one girl.
CAPTAIN BIN TIMRI
You're a traitor to your people.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
My people are dead, thanks to your Empire.
Faulkerk reaches down and grabs Captain Timri by the throat. He picks him up and slams him against the wall.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Tell me why I shouldn't kill you right now.
CAPTAIN BIN TIMRI
You don't have the strength.
Faulkerk slams the heel of his hand into the forehead of the helmet, knocking Captain Timri silly. Then Faulkerk rips off the helmet.
Captain Timri is blonde and classically handsome. His blue eyes hold no fear, only loathing for his captor.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Oh, I don't? I can kill you with my bare hands.
Faulkerk rears back to slam his fist into Captain Timri's face.
DANNA TIMRI (O.S.)
NO!
Faulkerk turns, diverting his attention for one second. Captain Timri hammers him in the ribs, doubling him over.
CAPTAIN BIN TIMRI
Danna! You traitor!
Danna stops cold, then starts to back away in fear.
The three camera droids round the corner and stop, their target found. They record and broadcast all that they see.
DANNA TIMRI
No, I didn't mean-
Faulkerk rises and slams his fist into Captain Timri's chin, knocking him out cold.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
I told you to go home.
DANNA TIMRI
You killed them.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Yes, I-
Faulkerk notices the three droids. He whips up his blaster, knocking one out of the air. One of them races away. The other rises up above the roof, out of sight.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Damn.
DANNA TIMRI
My mother must have sent them.
Paij Zelva's door opens. She steps into the doorway, heavily wrapped in blankets.
PAIJ ZELVA
Come in, quickly.
INT PAIJ ZELVA'S HOVEL - CONTINUING
The shelves are in total disarray. Most of the items have disappeared.
PAIJ ZELVA
Danna, you shouldn't have come.
DANNA TIMRI
I can help you.
PAIJ ZELVA
You don't know enough yet. You can still go back.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
We have to leave, now.
DANNA TIMRI
What is going on here?
PAIJ ZELVA
Danna...
Paij breaks down in a fit of coughing.
PAIJ ZELVA
If you come with us, you might be killed.
DANNA TIMRI
I can't stay here.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Danna, I can't let you do this. Go back to your family.
DANNA TIMRI
No. They're not my family. I'm not one of them. I never have been.
PAIJ ZELVA
(to Faulkerk)
Let her come.
CUT TO:
INT TIMRI ESTATE - NIGHT
The entire Timri clan has gathered and watched the assault on the Stormtrooper squad several times.
BRONTI
How could she? After all we've done for her.
SHARLA TIMRI
I told you she was rebellious.
AISHA TIMRI
I can no longer claim her as a daughter. Sharla, take your cousins and bring her back. She must suffer for what she has done.
Sharla smiles wickedly and gestures to a few of her cousins, who follow her out the door.
EXT TIMRI ESTATE - CONTINUING
Three hovercars race away from the estate. Sharla stands at the head of the lead car, her hair flowing behind her in the wind.
CUT TO:
INT CAPITAL BUILDING - EVASTIA'S QUARTERS - NIGHT
The door opens. Rinna A'Li'S enters. She holds a holopad in her hand. Evastia takes the pad and watches as the Stormtrooper squad is decimated by one man.
RINNA A'LI'S
We don't know who he is yet.
EVASTIA LYACEUM
The Empire will not like this.
RINNA A'LI'S
Shall I contact Moff Akzerr?
EVASTIA LYACEUM
I should contact him. What troops are loyal to the Empire?
RINNA A'LI'S
Only a small contingent, and your personal guards.
EVASTIA LYACEUM
Send them to the hangars. Doubtless this rebel will try to escape.
CUT TO:
INT CAPITAL BUILDING - COUNCIL CHAMBER - CONTINUING
Elamon Min'Carlus sits alone in the room. His narrow shoulders sag as if with great weight. A datapad falls from his numb fingers.
ELAMON MIN'CARLUS
They're going to destroy us all.
He closes his eyes in defeat.
CUT TO:
EXT TOFF LESS'IN - STREETS - NIGHT
Danna carries a large satchel. Faulkerk carries Paij Zelva as they hurry toward the hangars.
DANNA TIMRI
This would go faster if I had my speederbike.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
You shouldn't have parked it there.
DANNA TIMRI
You're the one who shot it all to pieces!
PAIJ ZELVA
(weakly)
They're waiting for us.
DANNA TIMRI
What?
FAULKERK TILLO'U
She said they're waiting for us.
DANNA TIMRI
I heard what she said.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Don't snap at me, princess.
DANNA TIMRI
So where do we go now?
Paij closes her eyes for a moment, concentrating.
PAIJ ZELVA
Menaria Foltec.
DANNA TIMRI
She's probably still at the cantina.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
That was her? How deep in this are you?
DANNA TIMRI
What are you talking about?
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Where does she live?
DANNA TIMRI
Down there.
Faulkerk briskly heads in the direction Danna pointed. Danna stands perplexed for a minute, then follows.
DANNA TIMRI
What is going on here?
CUT TO:
EXT CANTINA - NIGHT
Menaria and Tek stand outside the Cantina, looking around. Several alien beings mill aimlessly around, waiting for the Stormtroopers to leave, so that they can get back to their questionably legal activities.
Menaria pulls her hooded cloak tightly around her, more as a shield against the world than to ward off the chill.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Where do you think they went?
TEK WYZER
Maybe he carried her away to a paradise planet. That just leaves you and me, Menaria.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Dream on.
A voice from inside the Cantina draws Menaria's attention.
VOICE (O.S.)
Yeah, she was here with Menaria Foltec. I saw 'em both.
Menaria snaps her hood up over her head and steps in extremely close to Tek.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Kiss me right now.
TEK WYZER
What? Oh, you're trying to get me to-
Menaria kisses Tek hard, pushing him back against the wall. Tek's arms flail helplessly for a moment, then he realizes what is happening. His hands drop down inside Menaria's cloak.
Menaria hits Tek in the stomach with her free hand. His hands drop limply to his sides.
Three Stormtroopers exit the Cantina. One of them prods Menaria with his rifle.
STORMTROOPER
Menaria Foltec. Have you seen her?
Menaria offhandedly pushes the rifle away.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Go away, I'm working.
The Stormtrooper grabs her and pulls her off of Tek.
STORMTROOPER
Get away, woman.
(to Tek)
Menaria Foltec. Have you seen her?
TEK WYZER
Maybe. What's this about?
STORMTROOPER
She has been linked to the rebels.
TEK WYZER
Sorry. The only Menaria I know walks the streets every night.
At this, Menaria looks up, rage in her eyes.
TEK WYZER
Oh yeah, I've seen her. I mean, who hasn't?
STORMTROOPER
She is a traitor to the Empire.
Tek takes the Stormtrooper by the arm and leads him a short distance away.
TEK WYZER
Look, I know you've got a job to do, but I've been waiting a week for this. I can't tell you any more right now, or she's going to leave.
The Stormtrooper brings up his rifle to point directly at Tek's chest.
STORMTROOPER
Who is Menaria Foltec?
TEK WYZER
Hey, hold on there, buddy. I... oh, Menaria Foltec. I misunderstood you. See, I only know her by reputation.
Menaria takes Tek by the arm. She squeezes his arm painfully. He does his best to keep from wincing.
MENARIA FOLTEC
You've only got me for an hour.
(to Stormtroopers)
Good evening.
TEK WYZER
Hey, there's no arguing with the lady.
The Stormtrooper gestures to his two companions.
STORMTROOPER
Search her.
Menaria deftly reaches into a pouch on her belt and removes an electronic device. She slips this into Tek's hand. He puts it silently behind his belt buckle.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Me? I've got nothing to hide. See?
She opens her cloak wide, revealing only the clothing she's wearing. No weapons.
STORMTROOPER
What is your name, woman?
MENARIA FOLTEC
I'm no one. But for a few credits, you can call me whatever you want.
Menaria drapes herself over the head Stormtrooper.
MENARIA FOLTEC
I bet you've seen a lot of battles.
Tek doubles over. His face contorts in pain and surprise. Everyone turns to look at him.
TEK WYZER
Sorry. The ale just kicked in.
Tek rounds the corner behind the Cantina.
MENARIA FOLTEC
So, what will it be?
STORMTROOPER
Get her off me. She's not the one we're looking for.
They shove Menaria to the ground.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Fine! Don't expect anything from me! It won't matter how much money you have!
The Stormtroopers question the other beings.
Menaria rounds the corner. Tek is down on one knee, one hand on his beltline, the other holding the electronic device.
TEK WYZER
What is this thing? It shocked the sheol out of me.
Menaria takes the device.
MENARIA FOLTEC
It's Paij. Come on.
Tek attempts to get up, but he can't stand up straight.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Oh, come on!
Menaria helps him to his feet, and he hobbles awkwardly after her.
