EXT HANGARS - CONTINUING
Danna gains the upper hand. She works every angle against Sharla. Sharla feints left, then sweeps out Danna's feet. Danna falls hard.
Sharla moves in for the kill. Danna thrusts out her hands, using the force to throw Sharla backwards.
Sharla crashes against the side of the hangar. She glares at Danna through hate-filled eyes.
SHARLA TIMRI
So, the demon awakens. The Council will kill you if I don't.
DANNA TIMRI
No.
Danna climbs slowly to her feet. She brandishes her sword in front of her. Then she lowers it and sheathes it.
DANNA TIMRI
I have nothing to prove to you, Sharla.
CUT TO:
INT FAULKERK'S SHIP - CONTINUING
Menaria quickly glances over the control panel, trying unsuccessfully to locate the front turbolaser battery.
MENARIA FOLTEC
This could be a problem.
She hits the communicator switch.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Um, hi, guys. I don't suppose it would help if I said I was sorry?
CUT TO:
EXT HANGARS - CONTINUING
Faulkerk races the hovercar toward the open hangar. He sees the Imperial Tank facing his ship.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
He's going to shoot my ship!
TEK WYZER
Ram him!
FAULKERK TILLO'U
What? Are you insane?
TEK WYZER
Just a thought.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Get on the cannon back there.
Tek raises the small cannon on the back of the hovercar.
TEK WYZER
Want me to shoot the tank?
FAULKERK TILLO'U
No, how about that stack of crates?
TEK WYZER
Okay.
Tek shoots the stack of crates. They explode, sending shards of wood flying everywhere.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Of course you shoot the tank! Shoot it!
Tek fires at the Tank. He hits the broad side, not causing any noticeable damage.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Nice shot, bullseye.
TEK WYZER
Hey, I'm just following orders.
The Tank rotates its turret to face the new attackers.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Crad. Hold on to Paij.
Tek jumps to the floor and spreads himself over Paij, protecting her.
Faulkerk wrenches the controls sideways, sending the hovercar into a tight bank. The Tank fires, narrowly missing the fleeing hovercar.
CUT TO:
INT FAULKERK'S SHIP - CONTINUING
Menaria looks and finds the firing controls right in front of her.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Oh, here it is.
She hits the communications switch again.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Bye bye boys. It's been fun. Call me.
She hits the firing control.
EXT FAULKERK'S SHIP - CONTINUING
The front turbolaser batter unleashes a furious volley of deadly fire. The Tank explodes in a shower of light and molten metal.
INT FAULKERK'S SHIP - CONTINUING
Menaria settles back into the captains seat.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Breaking up is never fun. Oh well, I'm over it.
She takes the controls, and the ship lifts off the ground and hovers out onto the landing pad.
CUT TO:
EXT HANGARS - CONTINUING
The warriors from the Timri Clan take up defensive positions against the oncoming hovercar.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
How's Paij?
TEK WYZER
She's still with us. Barely. You might want to hurry.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Oh, you think so?
Faulkerk stares into the blockade ahead.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
I hope she remembers.
Faulkerk swerves left, then right, then starts left again.
The spaceship lets loose a volley of laser fire to the left of the hovercar. Timri warriors go flying in the explosion.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Good. She remembered.
CUT TO:
INT FAULKERK'S SHIP - CONTINUING
Menaria breathes a sigh of relief.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Good. He remembered. I didn't hit him like last time.
She gets up and heads toward the cargo bay.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Better let them in.
CUT TO:
EXT HANGARS - CONTINUING
Danna walks toward Faulkerk's ship. She doesn't look back at Sharla.
Sharla gets up and rapidly follows Danna.
SHARLA TIMRI
You can't run from me, Danna. I know you. You never walk away from a fight.
DANNA TIMRI
I don't have to prove anything to you.
SHARLA TIMRI
You're a coward, just like your father.
Danna stops cold. She slowly turns to face Sharla. Her voice is cold as ice.
DANNA TIMRI
You don't even know my father.
SHARLA TIMRI
Your mother never told you what really happened, did she? She never told you anything. Your father left her. He left her to be a jedi. Left her to carry you and raise you on her own. Only cowards leave before their work is done.
DANNA TIMRI
Liar.
Danna grits her teeth and continues toward Faulkerk's ship.
In the distance, Stormtroopers rush after the hovering ship.
SHARLA TIMRI
Are those tears in your eyes? Could it be that your father isn't as good as you thought he was?
DANNA TIMRI
Shut up.
SHARLA TIMRI
You don't deserve your name. You're not a Timri. You never have been, and you never will be. Nobody will miss you when you die, Danna.
Sharla races toward Danna's unprotected back. Her sword arcs down in a killing slash.
Danna whirls and whips out her lightsaber. She slashes Sharla's sword in two. The two pieces clatter to the ground. Danna holds the lightsaber menacingly in front of Sharla.
Sharla slowly backs up. The lightsaber glows right in front of her face. The heat from the blade causes beads of sweat to rise on Sharla's face.
DANNA TIMRI
And what about you, Sharla? Will anyone miss you? Well?
SHARLA TIMRI
Where did you get that?
DANNA TIMRI
I have powerful friends.
SHARLA TIMRI
Be careful, you could hurt someone.
DANNA TIMRI
That's the idea.
Danna circles the tip of the lightsaber right in front of Sharla's face.
DANNA TIMRI
You tried to kill me.
SHARLA TIMRI
Your mother told me to bring you back.
DANNA TIMRI
But you couldn't do it. You had to kill me yourself. What do you think of me now?
SHARLA TIMRI
I'll kill you.
DANNA TIMRI
Not if I kill you first.
FAULKERK TILLO'U (O.S.)
Danna!
DANNA TIMRI
I'm going to leave, and never come back. If I ever see you again...
Danna turns away.
SHARLA TIMRI
You're a traitor to the Timri name.
DANNA TIMRI
I am a Kenobi, like my father.
SHARLA TIMRI
You'll never find him.
DANNA TIMRI
Yes I will.
Sharla watches Danna walk away. Suddenly Danna turns to face her cousin.
DANNA TIMRI
Oh, and Sharla, how was that parry?
CUT TO:
INT FAULKERK'S SHIP - COCKPIT - CONTINUING
Faulkerk and Menaria pilot the ship. It lifts off the landing pad and races toward the sky.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Is Danna on board?
Tek hollers up from the rear of the ship.
TEK WYZER (O.S.)
Yeah, she's here.
A warning light flashes and beeps.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Company.
MENARIA FOLTEC
How many?
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Four drop ships, couple squads of fighters. Uh oh.
MENARIA FOLTEC
That's not a good uh oh, is it?
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Another Star Destroyer just dropped out of hyperspace.
An IMPERIAL OFFICER calls over the comlink.
IMPERIAL OFFICER (O.S.)
You are leaving a restricted area. State your security code.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
This is the starship Minotaur's Greed. We have a viral outbreak onboard. I'm transmitting the quarantine code.
(to Menaria)
Let's hope they buy it.
IMPERIAL OFFICER (O.S.)
Hold your course while we verify quarantine.
Faulkerk's hands fly over the controls, calculating the jump to hyperspace.
MENARIA FOLTEC
It's going to take us at least five minutes to get free of the planet's gravity.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
How good are you at stalling?
CUT TO:
INT FAULKERK'S SHIP - PRIVATE QUARTERS - CONTINUING
Paij lies on the cot, cold and pale. She is hooked up to an intravenous facilitator.
Danna sits beside her, stroking her hair softly.
DANNA TIMRI
You can't leave me yet, Paij. I have so much to learn.
Tek stands in the doorway, unsure of what to say.
TEK WYZER
What if she does die?
DANNA TIMRI
Don't even say that. She's going to live.
INT FAULKERK'S SHIP - COCKPIT - CONTINUING
Faulkerk does his best to imitate sickness.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
(weakly)
I don't know how much longer I can pilot the ship.
IMPERIAL OFFICER (O.S.)
That contagion is not known in this sector. Transmit quarantine code again.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Hello, this is the copilot. I'm sorry, the captain just collapsed. We're having some difficulty over here.
IMPERIAL OFFICER (O.S.)
We'll send in a medical team.
MENARIA FOLTEC
No! I mean, you can't. We're all dead anyway. There's nothing you can do for us.
Menaria hits the switch to mute transmission.
MENARIA FOLTEC
How much longer?
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Two minutes.
MENARIA FOLTEC
(to Imperial Officer)
Look, just let us go. You can send a ship to follow us and destroy the ship as soon as we don't respond. I don't want my ashes to fall on this backworlds place.
IMPERIAL OFFICER (O.S.)
That contradicts all protocol. I cannot allow it.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Listen to yourself. I'm going to die alone. Everyone else is gone. Just let me go in peace. Don't you have any human decency?
IMPERIAL OFFICER (O.S.)
I'll send a squad of fighters to disintegrate your ship. You have twenty minutes.
Menaria turns to Faulkerk. He smiles successful in his computations.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Um, could you cancel that last order? It seems we've experienced a miracle here.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Yeah. I'm feeling much better. Thanks.
MENARIA FOLTEC
Give our love to your superiors.
EXT FAULKERK'S SHIP - CONTINUING
The ship blasts into hyperspace. A squad of Imperial fighters races by. But their objective is gone.
CUT TO:
INT CAPITAL BUILDING - EVASTIA'S QUARTERS - NIGHT
Rinna looks out the window through macrobinoculars. She watches the ships drop down to the planet.
RINNA A'LI'S
Now this planet truly is in the Emperor's hand.
EVASTIA LYACEUM (O.S.)
What? Did you say something to me?
RINNA A'LI'S
No, my Lady. I was just admiring the beauty of all this.
CUT TO:
INT FAULKERK'S SHIP - LOUNGE - DAY
Paij sits up, wrapped in a blanket. Danna sits across from her, idly toying with the lightsaber hilt.
Tek looks over the circuitry inside the Stormtrooper helmet.
DANNA TIMRI
How did the Jedi come to be? I mean, have there always been Jedi?
PAIJ ZELVA
It depends on who you talk to, Danna. Everyone has their own story. But it's all the same.
DANNA TIMRI
Tell me.
PAIJ ZELVA
The original Jedi all came from one planet-
DANNA TIMRI
Which one?
PAIJ ZELVA
That's what is disputed. Though the force is everywhere, no one knew how to use it before the Jedi came. They left their planet to teach the truth about the force to the whole galaxy.
Faulkerk and Menaria emerge from the cockpit.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
The course is set. We'll be in hyperspace for a couple of days, at least.
DANNA TIMRI
Where are we going?
MENARIA FOLTEC
I've got some friends in the outer rim. We can hide there for a while.
PAIJ ZELVA
We'll never be able to hide. There is too much that we need to do.
FAULKERK TILLO'U
Speak for yourself, Paij. I don't go for all that mystical mumbo jumbo.
DANNA TIMRI
The force is real.
PAIJ ZELVA
More real than you even know, Danna. Let me tell you about the first and greatest of these Jedi Prophets. He was a man named Vader Keskar.
