Technical Writer

Recruited to be Team Lead for the technical writing team documenting business processes and models using BPMN for the IT department at MetLife (Irving, TX). In preparation for this project, I was assigned with developing and researching notation styles for documenting business processes. Preparation work entailed the following:
  • Organizing Sharepoint libraries. 
  • Creating detailed templates in Word. 
  • Programming macros for template. 
  • Researching notation styles to develop rationale for workflow. 
  • Lead team meetings, both independently and under the direction of management. 
The scope of the project changed, and the technical writers were moved under different management and charged with documenting IT runbooks. This project required the following:
  • Interviewing subject matter experts to gather information for runbooks. 
  • Clarifying and verifying existing documentation. 
  • Regular remote collaboration on projects via sharepoint, email and Lotus Notes. 
  • Editing, reorganizing and synthesizing technical information for a helpdesk audience.
